Before Sharing a Health Headline

A headline can leave out the detail that changes how a study reads. Who took part? What did the researchers measure? Was the result an association, or did the study test an intervention?

Those are useful questions to keep beside a news story. A result in cells or animals needs that context. So does a percentage without the underlying numbers.

For a starting point, the MedProofs health news section collects medical news. Read the original research alongside the coverage when it is available, and check the study population and limitations before sharing a claim.
